Guwahati

Arrive in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Meet the Freedom Riderss crew, get introduced to your motorcycle and take a relaxed test ride. Spend the evening getting acquainted with the group and preparing for the roads, forests and mountains ahead.

Day 2

Guwahati to Dimapur

Distance: Distance: 260 Kms | Ride Time: 6 hours km

Leave Guwahati behind and ride east towards Nagaland. The landscape gradually changes as we move deeper into the Northeast, with forested hills, quiet countryside and local communities shaping the route. Arrive in Dimapur, the gateway to Nagaland, and settle into the rhythm of the journey.

Dimapur to Kohima

Distance: Distance: 70 Kms | Ride Time: 3 hours km

The road climbs into the Naga Hills, winding through dense forests and traditional villages. Arrive in Kohima and spend the evening discovering the distinctive culture and flavours of Nagaland.

Day 4

Kohima to Jorhat

Distance: Distance: 200 Kms | Ride Time: 5 hours km

Leave Nagaland behind and ride back into Assam through changing landscapes and quiet rural roads. Arrive in Jorhat, the cultural heart of Upper Assam and a gateway to the Brahmaputra valley and its distinctive traditions.

Jorhat to Kaliabor

Distance: Distance: 143 Kms | Ride Time: 3-3.5 hours km

Continue through the countryside of Assam towards Kaliabor, moving deeper into the Brahmaputra valley. The route takes us away from the larger towns and into a quieter landscape of villages, fields and traditional Assamese life.

Kaliabor & Kaziranga Forest Safari

A day away from the long-distance riding. Head into Kaziranga National Park for a forest safari and experience its grasslands, wetlands and rich wildlife. The park is renowned for its Indian one-horned rhinoceros, while its wider ecosystem supports elephants, wild buffalo, deer and an extraordinary variety of birdlife.

Kaziranga to Dirang

Distance: Distance: 360 kms | Ride Time: 8-9 hours km

Today the landscape changes completely as we leave Assam and make our way towards Arunachal Pradesh. The road crosses towards Tezpur and Bhalukpong before climbing through Bomdila into the Eastern Himalayas. Forested valleys, mountain rivers and increasingly rugged terrain lead us towards Dirang.

Dirang

Distance: Short Exploration Ride | approx. 30 km km

A relaxed morning ride through the Dirang valley towards Sangti Valley, surrounded by orchards, forests and mountain rivers. Return to Dirang for a slower afternoon, with time to visit the local hot springs and explore the character of this beautiful Monpa valley.

Dirang to Nameri National Park

Distance: Distance: 160 kms | Ride Time: 5 hours km

Descend from the mountains towards Nameri National Park, where the Eastern Himalayas meet the Assam plains. The change in landscape is striking as high mountain country gives way to forests, rivers and a warmer subtropical environment.

Nameri to Umiam Lake

Distance: Distance: 250 kms | Ride Time : 6 Hours km

Leave Nameri behind and ride towards Meghalaya. The road carries us through increasingly green landscapes before reaching Umiam Lake, surrounded by the rolling hills of Meghalaya. Settle in for an evening immersed in the quieter side of the Northeast.

Umiam Exploration Day

A day to slow down and experience Meghalaya. Take a relaxed ride around Umiam and the surrounding hills, or simply enjoy the lake and peaceful landscape. After the long journey through Assam, Nagaland and
Arunachal Pradesh, this is time to breathe and take in the final chapter of the adventure.

Dawki to Guwahati

Distance: Distance: 82 kms | Ride Time: 2-2.5 hours km

Our final ride takes us back towards Guwahati. Leave the hills of Meghalaya behind and descend towards Assam, bringing together an incredible journey through Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

Fly out from Guwahati

Distance: Total Trip in kms - 1555 kms km

The journey ends in Guwahati. Fly home after thirteen days across the Northeast — from the Naga Hills and Assamese countryside to the high valleys of Arunachal and the forests and lakes of Meghalaya.
